What the Heck is a Hyrax?
A Hyrax is a small mammal, sometimes referred to as a vampire groundhog. It lives on a vegetarian diet and is about the size of a well fed rabbit. There are several subspecies that are still considered Hyrax, although they have slightly different characteristics and behavioral quirks.
We named our company after them because, more or less, we just like the name. Plus, the addition of the vampire groundhog name really boosts it in the rankings of animals we could have named the company after. Also, if we named the company Horse Hype, everyone would think we were horse breeders or manufacturers of horse riding equipment. That's not the case with Hyrax Hype and we're pretty sure no one has ever ridden on a Hyrax.
About Our Company
Finally, you'll get me talking in first person. My name is Brad and Hyrax Hype is my company. I'm currently located in Harrisonburg, Virginia and servicing clients nationwide. I know social media in and out because I am part of the social media generation. I grew up with it and it's almost intuitive to me. I started the company because my generation doesn't read newspapers, we read online news sites and blogs. We use DVR or TIVO to fastforward right past television commercials. In addition, we are almost completely hardened to typical advertising methods. We've been flooded our whole lives with gimmicks and flashy commercials. Hyrax Hype evolved upon my realization of this. The way to connect to my generation is on a personal level, and social media is the ideal platform for this connection.
