What the Heck is a Hyrax?
A Hyrax is a small mammal, sometimes referred to as a vampire groundhog. It lives on a vegetarian diet and is about the size of a well fed rabbit. There are several subspecies that are still considered Hyrax, although they have slightly different characteristics and behavioral quirks.
We named our company after them because, more or less, we just like the name. Plus, the addition of the vampire groundhog name really boosts it in the rankings of animals we could have named the company after. Also, if we named the company Horse Hype, everyone would think we were horse breeders or manufacturers of horse riding equipment. That's not the case with Hyrax Hype and we're pretty sure no one has ever ridden on a Hyrax.
